Something of a cross between "Desperate Housewives" and a Susan Isaacs mystery, Good Little Wives by Abby Drake takes place in an upscale and exclusive northern suburb of New York City where the husbands all make millions and the wives amuse themselves with good works and self-indulgence. When one of the wives is arrested for killing the ex-husband who left her for a trophy wife, the rest of the women rally to help find the real killer, and in the process everyone's secrets come out. The characters in this book are surprisingly likeable and sympathetic, the dialog is snappy and acerbic, the drama is laced with comedy, and the action moves along at a good clip. The language can be very explicit, though, so more sensitive souls should beware! But for others, it's fun reading for a rainy weekend.
